For Immediate Release: Innovative Design Program Launches to Empower Student Inventors
A new course rooted in creativity, empathy, and real-world innovation is launching this fall - Project Invent, led by veteran educator and design technologist Victoria (Tori Sparks) Sylvestre.
Project Invent empowers high school students to become fearless problem solvers by guiding them through the design thinking process to create solutions for real-world challenges. With a focus on invention for social good, students will connect with community partners, build working prototypes, and develop critical 21st-century skills along the way.
"Design Thinking gives students the tools to not just imagine a better future - but to build it," says Sylvestre. "This course is about helping students see themselves as innovators, collaborators, and change agents. No limits - just impact."
The course is open to students with all kinds of interests - from artists to coders to builders to big-picture dreamers. Whether you're curious about entrepreneurship, engineering, or just making the world a little better, Project Invent offers a hands-on experience unlike any other.

Victoria (Tori Sparks) Sylvestre
Tori Sylvestre is a National Board Certified Teacher, creative technologist, and design-driven educator with over 30 years of experience at the intersection of art, innovation, and social impact. She holds an MFA in Visual Arts, a District C Coaching Certification, and is a graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill’s MEITE (Master of Educational Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship) program. Whether in the classroom, studio, or virtual world, Tori creates transformative spaces where students learn to think boldly, work creatively, and design with purpose.
Tori’s teaching practice is rooted in design thinking, community collaboration, and fearless creativity. As a Project Invent Fellow, she helps students take on real-world challenges through human-centered design - guiding them as they create prototypes that reflect both empathy and purpose.
An experienced user of the Epic Games ecosystem, Tori incorporates Unreal Engine, UEFN, and MetaHuman to bring immersive storytelling and student-created narratives to life. She empowers learners to explore their voices through interactive environments and visual storytelling, blending technology with meaning and play.
Outside the classroom, Tori is also a practicing social justice artist, using her work to challenge inequity, spark dialogue, and advocate for change. Her District C coaching experience further fuels her commitment to authentic collaboration and entrepreneurial problem-solving.
